BNY Mellon's Technology Highlighted with CIO 100 Award from CIO Magazine

Jun 7, 2011

NEW YORK, June 7, 2011 — BNY Mellon, the global leader in investment management and investment servicing, has been named a recipient of a 2011 CIO 100 award. In announcing the winners in its 24th annual program, CIO magazine said the organizations chosen "exemplify the highest level of operation and strategic excellence in information technology (IT) and use IT in innovative ways to create business value."

"The products we manufacture for clients are developed and delivered through the innovative use and application of information technology. Early on, our company recognized that technology is absolutely essential to providing the world-class products and services that provide value for our clients, and we are committed to ensuring that our technology investments deliver the measurable results that our customers require and demand," said John Fiore, executive vice president and chief information officer at BNY Mellon. "Our significant IT investments have enabled our businesses to execute our strategy and maintain a competitive edge. Our technology investments also are advancing operations quality, reducing costs and increasing efficiency across the company."

The CIO 100 award was presented to BNY Mellon for its development of TeamSource, an internal social collaboration platform comprised of a set of software services that enables employees globally to locate one another and the information they need to communicate and collaborate to achieve common business goals. "Since the environment we work in is both globally dispersed and business diverse, TeamSource is focused on fostering networks between our employees by establishing connections, increasing knowledge awareness, energy and communication, which equates to higher performing teams," Fiore explained. TeamSource is a web-based solution that provides employees an opportunity to establish a Profile Page (including a picture), tweet status updates, build their own internal network and join communities of interest and practice.

The recipients of this year's CIO 100 award were selected through a process that included submitting an online application form detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives, an in-depth review by a team of judges that looked for unique practices and substantial results and ending with CIO editors reviewing the judges' recommendations and deciding on the final 100.
