"Corporate sponsorship more important than ever" - IMMA

DUBLIN, 6 May 2011 - BNY Mellon, the global leader in investment management and investment servicing, has announced its sponsorship of the latest exhibition at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA). "Frieda Kahlo & Diego Rivera: Masterpieces of the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection", an exhibition comprising 18 major iconic paintings supplemented with drawings, lithographs and collages by the two central figures of Mexican modernism runs until 26th June.

Speaking at the launch of the exhibition Joe Duffy, Country Executive for Ireland, BNY Mellon said, "Over the last 20 years IMMA has played a vital role in fostering and promoting cultural awareness in Ireland and we are delighted to support the museum in bringing this iconic collection of paintings to Dublin. As a business with a growing footprint in Ireland we are keen to play an active role in encouraging cultural participation, access and education, and help maintain what remains an extremely important aspect of Irish society."

Enrique Juncosa, Director of IMMA added: "At a time when corporate patronage of the arts is threatened by the wider economic climate, it is hugely encouraging that we can continue to attract world class exhibitions to Dublin. Corporate support for the arts in Ireland is now more important than ever and our partnership with BNY Mellon highlights the crucial role Irish and international organisations can play in furthering cultural development."

BNY Mellon employs in excess of 1,800 people in Dublin, Cork, Wexford and Navan. This is the second BNY Mellon/IMMA sponsorship following the award-winning Picturing New York Exhibition which attracted over 100,000 visitors last year.
