Derivatives360 Appointments Bolster Efforts to Deliver Coordinated Derivatives-Related Product Set Globally

NEW YORK, April 4, 2011 — BNY Mellon, the global leader in investment management and investment servicing, has appointed Jonathan Bowler, Chris Coleman and Laure Scala to senior management positions in support of the company's Derivatives360 initiative, an integrated investment servicing solution that helps clients efficiently execute and manage derivatives transactions.

Bowler serves as business manager for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia-Pacific regions, while Coleman acts as the business manager for North America and Latin America. Scala was named the chief administrative officer.

"We're seeing a range of derivatives servicing needs emerge for issuers and investors alike and these appointments greatly improve our ability to deliver coordinated derivatives solutions globally," said Patrick Tadie, global business head for Derivatives360. "All three of these individuals have significant industry, product management, operations and securities servicing experience that will serve our clients well as we expand our business moving forward."

Prior to his current role, Bowler served as head of Business Strategy and Development within the company's Asset Servicing Product Management area in EMEA. From 2002 to 2009, he led the Asset Management Client Services and Product Management team for ABN AMRO Mellon, a role which transitioned to BNY Mellon after the merger of The Bank of New York Company and Mellon Financial Corporation in 2007. Bowler has also held senior roles at Goldman Sachs Futures Ltd., SBC Warburg and Cargill Investor Services.

Before his recent appointment, Coleman was the derivatives product development manager for North America in Asset Servicing with a concentration in derivatives middle office outsourcing services. He joined BNY Mellon in 1998 as an operations manager in Asset Servicing, supporting US Mutual Fund Accounting and Administration overseeing Corporate Actions, Data Management and Security Pricing back office until 2006. Before joining BNY Mellon Coleman worked with Merrill Lynch in an accounting and corporate role.

Before joining the Derivatives360 team, Scala was a senior product manager in the Alternative Investment Services and Asset Servicing businesses, where she specialized in cash and client reporting solutions for institutional clients. Prior to joining these securities servicing businesses, she served in a variety of product development roles within the firm's Capital Markets and cash management businesses, including an overseas assignment involving the development of Russia's capital markets infrastructure.

Whether clients are using derivatives as a hedging tool or as a separate investment strategy, Derivatives360 offers a broad array of services for issuers and investors around the execution and processing of derivatives. These include trading and execution, middle- and back-office outsourcing, collateral management, accounting and recordkeeping, reporting, and performance and risk analytics. Derivatives360 also encompasses a range of outsourced services, including OTC trade affirmation and confirmation, trade settlement, independent (third-party) valuation, and counterparty and investment manager reconciliation.
