Jim Whitaker to lead in the Americas; Mark Mannion named head for EMEA

NEW YORK and LONDON, March 28, 2011 — BNY Mellon Alternative Investment Services (AIS) announced that Jim Whitaker has been named head of Relationship Management for the Americas and that Mark Mannion has been named head of Relationship Management for EMEA.  Whitaker assumes a role held previously by Marina Lewin, who was recently named Global Head of Sales for AIS.  Mannion assumes the new title having transitioned from his role as Managing Director of European Business for the former PNC Global Investment Servicing unit acquired by BNY Mellon last year.

Whitaker and Mannion will continue to be based in New York and Dublin, respectively, and report to Brian Ruane, BNY Mellon AIS chief executive officer.

"Providing the highest level of service to our clients is paramount, and Jim and Mark have a deep knowledge of the alternatives space and of the challenges and opportunities facing fund managers around the world," said Ruane.  "In their new roles, Jim and Mark will enable us to consistently deliver 'the whole company'– deepening relationships with clients to ensure they're aware of the products and services across BNY Mellon that can support their business and help them grow."

Whitaker will oversee relationship management teams in the Americas across all AIS client segments – hedge funds, fund of hedge funds, prime custody and private equity administration.  He was most recently head of the alternative fund client management team and has previously held senior positions in the firm's corporate restructuring and global client management groups.  Whitaker joined BNY Mellon in 1989.

Mannion will assume responsibility for relationship management throughout the EMEA region.  Mannion joined PNC in 1998 and has led that group's European business since 2006.  He has 16 years experience in the alternatives business and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
