Mellon Transition Management Appoints Mark Bewick

Mar 22, 2011

Joins as Managing Director of Relationship Management and Business Development

LONDON, 22 March 2011 — Mellon Transition Management (MTM), the transition management specialist for BNY Mellon Asset Management, has extended its footprint in the UK and Ireland with the appointment of Mark Bewick as Managing Director of Relationship Management and Business Development.

Reporting to Mark Dwyer, Managing Director and Head of EMEA for Mellon Transition Management, Bewick's role will be to aid understanding among pension trustees in the UK and Ireland of the real cost of moving assets and managing the risk of a transition. He will also be charged with helping clients select the most appropriate and efficient of MTM's beta management strategies and cost effective investment solutions. These are designed to ensure asset allocation is adjusted as efficiently as possible and enable schemes to ultimately bring actual market exposure closer to the trustees' investment decisions.

Commenting on the appointment, Mark Dwyer said: "In order to build on our service proposition to clients, we recognised the need for a specialist who not only understood the requirements of the UK pension fund market, including regulation and the reporting cycle, but was also able to offer clarity and peace of mind to pension trustees looking to make adjustments to their investment portfolios. Mark's experience in building proactive consultative relationships with pension fund clients means he is well placed to meet both these requirements. Having worked very closely with Mark in the past, I am confident this appointment is a natural progression into the asset management arena."

Bewick has more than 26 years experience working in financial services, including 13 working for HSBC and the latter 13 years being devoted to the UK and Irish pension fund market through his various sales and relationship management roles at RBS Trust Bank and BNY Mellon Asset Servicing. He concluded his time with BNY Mellon Asset Servicing as Head of UK and Ireland Pension Fund Relationship Management.

His role in Asset Servicing also saw him hosting the BNY Mellon Annual Pension Summit and chairing his UK and Irish Pension Client Advisory Board. Through his numerous activities, Bewick has become synonymous with the proactive consultative provision of asset servicing to pension schemes and continues his work as a member of the National Association of Pension Funds Markets Committee.
