Awarded 'Best Global Custodian in Asia' for third year running

Named 'Best Fund Administrator for Alternative Products' for the second year

Standish wins best manager in 'Global Bonds: Hedged' categories

HONG KONG, 21 January 2011 — BNY Mellon received top industry recognition in Asia Asset Management magazine's 2010 'Best of the Best' Awards this week, winning four accolades.

This year's Asia Asset Management awards applauded the top performing funds, investment management groups and asset servicing providers that consistently outperformed in a challenging economic environment. The asset management awards were based on performance data submitted by asset managers over three and five years.

BNY Mellon Asset Servicing was awarded the title of 'Best Global Custodian' in Asia-Pacific for the third consecutive year. BNY Mellon Alternative Investment Services was named 'Best Fund Administrator for Alternative Products' for the second consecutive year.

Standish Mellon Asset Management, part of BNY Mellon Asset Management, was awarded the title of best asset manager in the "Global Bonds: Hedged" categories over three and five years.

Commenting on how BNY Mellon plans to sustain its position as one of the leading custodians in Asia, Chong Jin Leow, head of Asia, BNY Mellon Asset Servicing, observed that Asian institutions have three key priorities and they are more, faster and better. "In 2011 we will continue to strengthen our capabilities, bringing our global experience to address the regulatory requirements emerging across the region. We will also continue to share our experience and expertise with the set up of new structures, such as Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and Fund of Funds, for example, to banks and asset managers across Asia-Pacific."

Turning to the future for alternatives, Andrew Gordon, Head of Alternative Investment Services for Asia at BNY Mellon, noted that global investors continue to judge alternative managers on non-investment aspects, including corporate governance, transparency and risk management. "This trend is likely to accelerate in 2011 and is fuelling an increase in demand for administration and related services. Managers are turning to BNY Mellon for our sophisticated reporting platform, valuations and monitoring solutions to enhance transparency and mitigate operational risk."

Commenting on Standish Mellon Asset Management's success at the awards, Desmond MacIntyre, president and chief executive officer of Standish added: "This is the second consecutive year Asia Asset Management has recognised our achievements in this area, endorsing the consistent performance that we have delivered across our range throughout the continued challenging market conditions."
