Yuko Takano joins team

LONDON and NEW YORK, January 24, 2011 — Newton* has announced that Newton Investment Management Limited has appointed Yuko Takano as Japanese Research Analyst.

Based in London, Takano will be responsible for providing leadership on Japanese equities, working closely with Newton's 27-strong team of global equity analysts. Takano's focus will be on producing recommendations of Japanese stocks for inclusion into Newton's global investment portfolios.

Takano brings a wealth of extensive experience in analysing Japanese companies to Newton.  Having started her career as an M&A analyst with Morgan Stanley in Tokyo in 2000, she worked at Joho Capital in New York for several years as a Senior Equity Research Analyst, researching Japanese companies.  Yuko graduated with an MBA from Stanford University in 2005.

Jeff Munroe, chief investment officer at Newton* comments: "Newton firmly believes in the benefits and strengths of global analysis driven by our team of global industry analysts, and we know that this can be enhanced by the addition of dedicated specialists at the regional level.  Japan, as the world's third largest economy, is a key market for us to focus our resource.  Yuko's experience of analysing Japanese equities will be an important addition to our global approach."
