Pune employees dedicate time and raise funds for the community

Road building in Maher Ashram, events for handicapped children, cleaning and painting

PUNE, 22 October 2010 — Employees from BNY Mellon's Pune offices today completed a six-week Community Partnership Campaign which has involved a wide variety of activities from helping to build a road in Maher Ashram, to cleaning and painting the community centre at Deep Griha.

BNY Mellon has a longstanding heritage of philanthropy and community partnership stretching back to the founding of the company in 1784. Employees participate in many fundraising and community activities all year round however each September – October, the company raises the profile of the programme through a dedicated campaign and offers employees an extra third day of paid volunteer time during this timeframe.

This year's campaign ran from 13 September to today, 22 October, and was an opportunity for BNY Mellon's employees to come together and combine their energy and generosity to support charitable causes in their local community. The program encourages team volunteering and fundraising year-round in the 36 countries in which the company operates.

In 2010 to date, BNY Mellon Pune employees have raised Rs.201,185/- through a combination of personal donations, fundraising activities (which benefit from the company's matching programme) and volunteered over 1,094 man-hours for local community causes. Recent activities from September and October include:

  • Cooked and served lunch to 150 women of Maher Ashram
  • Cleaned and painted the Community Centre at Deep Griha (Ramtekdi)
  • Helped to build a road in Maher Ashram – Wagholi
  • Organised a picnic for the handicapped children of Kamayani
  • Helped with some renovations at Harbour Society
  • Assisted in organising an exhibition for SMILE across all of our offices in Magarpatta City

BNY Mellon employees to raise funds for Leh flood victims
On Sunday (24th October), Over 400 employees from BNY Mellon will be taking part in a 'walkathon' in Pune to raise funds for the flood-affected people of Leh, in the northern India state of Jammu and Kashmir. The walkathon will start at Kamayani School on Senapati Bapat Road proceed to the Chattushrunghi temple and returning to Kamayni School. "This is our way not only to connect with one another, but also to connect with our brethren in Leh, who lost not only their homes, but also their loved ones," said Mr. McEleney.
