Tarek Elrefai Appointed Senior Executive Officer of BNY Mellon's Dubai Branch

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates and LONDON, October 18, 2010 — BNY Mellon, a global leader in asset management and securities servicing, today announced Tarek Elrefai's appointment as Senior Executive Officer (SEO) for its branch located in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) following authorisation by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).

Elrefai, who remains Head of Client Management for the MEA region with oversight of country management and franchise clients in the Middle East & Africa, will be responsible for leading the BNY Mellon team within the region and for implementing the company's regional strategic growth plans. He will also be responsible for ensuring that business activities operating out of the Dubai branch are in accordance with DFSA regulatory requirements.

Elrefai will continue to report to Hani Kablawi, Chairman of the Middle East & Africa and Head of Client Management for EMEA.

Elrefai's appointment follows the arrival in Dubai in August of Mark Fenner, who has taken up the role of Head of Relationship Management and Sales for BNY Mellon's Treasury Services business in MEA.
