Kevin McCarthy has been named executive vice president and deputy general counsel for global litigation and regulatory enforcement. He will join the company on September 30 and report to Jane Sherburne, senior executive vice president and general counsel. McCarthy, who has practiced law in the financial services industry for more than 20 years, will lead the team that oversees company litigation and regulatory enforcement globally.

McCarthy, 45, most recently was general counsel and corporate secretary for Cowen Group, an investment banking firm, which he joined in 2006. He previously was a partner with Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, and also served in key roles at Credit Suisse First Boston, including managing director and global head of litigation.
