New role created to support acceleration of business growth in India

MUMBAI, 3 August 2009 — The Bank of New York Mellon, a global leader in asset management and securities servicing, has appointed Mr. Navneet Singh as Country Executive for India and Chief Representative of the company's Representative Office in Mumbai.

In this new position, Mr. Singh will be based in Mumbai and lead the development and implementation of the company's business strategy for India with a focus on strengthening and broadening local client relationships. He will report to Mr. Christopher Sturdy, Chairman of Asia Pacific, based at the company's regional Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong.

Prior to joining The Bank of New York Mellon, Mr. Singh spent over 25 years at Standard Chartered Bank in a variety of senior leadership positions covering many facets of the financial services sector. After several tenures overseas, Mr. Singh returned to Mumbai in 2000 to assume the position of Head Corporate Banking (India) at Standard Chartered Bank. In 2004, Mr. Singh became Head of Strategy (India) and most recently was Regional Head of Legal and Compliance with responsibility for legal, compliance and assurance for five countries in South Asia including India.
