Largest U.S. Custodian in Terms of Funds Serviced

NEW YORK, June 30, 2009 — BNY Mellon Asset Servicing, the global leader in securities servicing, announced today that it has exceeded $100 billion in exchange-traded fund (ETF) assets under custody. BNY Mellon is the largest U.S. custodian for ETFs in terms of funds serviced, providing services to more than 350 separate funds. Over the last 10 years, BNY Mellon's ETF services business has grown from a single portfolio with less than $1 billion in assets.

"This important milestone reflects the recent market upturn and the unwavering emphasis that BNY Mellon has put on delivering superior asset servicing capabilities for this rapidly growing segment of the global funds industry," said Joseph Keenan, managing director and head of financial institution relationship management for BNY Mellon Asset Servicing.

ETF services include custody, accounting and administration, and transfer agency.

"Our position as a market leader in providing asset servicing capabilities is evidence of the extraordinary growth in an asset class that didn't even exist only a few short years ago," said Keenan. "We will continue to invest in all aspects of this business from technology to client service so we can meet the growing needs of investment managers and contribute to the continuing success of our clients."
