LONDON, 18 October 2007 — The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation is proud to be supporting The Royal Academy of Arts' major exhibition of works from the Paul Mellon Collection at the Yale Centre for British Art in the U.S.

The exhibition marks the centenary of the birth of Paul Mellon (1907 - 1999), one of the greatest collectors of British art and a member of the family that founded the origins of the Mellon businesses that now form part of The Bank of New York Mellon.

An unparalleled opportunity to experience some of the finest works of British art, the exhibition features more than 150 works, including prints, drawings, paintings, rare books and manuscripts. Featured in the exhibition are many objects that have not been seen by the British public since they were purchased, as well as major works by artists such as Reynolds, Gainsborough, Stubbs, Constable, Turner and Blake.

"The exhibition is a reflection of our passion for supporting the arts as well as a perspective on a period of great importance to British painting. We are delighted to be supporting the Royal Academy and this celebration of British art," said Helena Morrissey and William Kerr, Co-chairs of The Bank of New York Mellon's European, Middle East and Africa region.

In addition to supporting the Royal Academy exhibition, The Bank of New York Mellon will be exhibiting a number of works from its own private collection, at the Hazlitt gallery at 38 Bury Street, St James's. This separate exhibition of works from the 18th-21st centuries includes examples by Gainsborough, Constable, Turner, Bomberg and Ruscha and will be on display from 18 October - 9 November 2007.
