Newton Recognised at Top Industry Awards for Second Year Running

LONDON, 18 October 2007 — Newton Investment Management Limited, a UK asset management subsidiary of The Bank of New York Mellon, won the award for Equity Manager of the Year at last night's Financial News Awards for Excellence in Institutional Asset Management – Europe 2007.

With a shortlist of nominees from the world's leading asset management companies, Newton scooped the award for 'Equity Manager of the Year' and was shortlisted for 'UK Asset Management Firm of the Year', the award it received in 2006. BNY Mellon Asset Management was also shortlisted in the European Asset Management Firm of the Year category.

A panel comprising of 30 pension fund consultants and fund management and marketing executives presided over the 18 categories with shortlists provided by Financial News' team of specialist fund management journalists.
