Newton Appoints Consumer Goods Analyst

LONDON, November 8, 2007 — Newton Investment Management Limited, a UK asset management subsidiary of The Bank of New York Mellon, has appointed Sally Springer to its global research team. She reports to Simon Pryke, Leader, Global Research at Newton.

Working in conjunction with Newton's global research team, Springer will lead on investment ideas within the Consumer sector. Prior to joining Newton, she spent seven years at Insight Investment Management where most recently she was Director, UK Equities, with responsibility for all consumer stocks.
