Gary Strumeyer Appointed President of Capital Markets

NEW YORK, April 1, 2008 — The Bank of New York Mellon today announced that Gary M. Strumeyer has been appointed president of its Capital Markets subsidiary, soon to be named BNY Mellon Capital Markets, LLC. Strumeyer replaces Ian Stewart, who is now serving as chief operating officer of Global Client Management at The Bank of New York Mellon.

A veteran senior manager with more than 20 years of company service, Strumeyer is a former adjunct professor of economics and finance at New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies. A thought leader in fixed income securities, Strumeyer has authored books published by Barron's and John Wiley. He recently served on the Corporate Debt Market Panel of The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), which made recommendations to FINRA's Board of Governors regarding best ways to ensure market integrity and investor protection in the corporate bond market.
