Harley Murphy announces retirement after eight years with the company

LONDON, June 18, 2008 — BNY Mellon Asset Servicing, the global leader in securities servicing, has appointed Ross Whitehill as its new Head of Offshore Management for the EMEA region.

Formerly Chief Operating Officer of Thomas Murray, the London-based ratings, advisory and data services company, Whitehill joins BNY Mellon on June 23 and, following a handover period, will formally take over the offshore business on September 1. He will divide his time between London and Dublin.

Since joining Thomas Murray in 1996, Whitehill has overseen the management and delivery of a wide range of projects encompassing global custody, investment accounting, asset pooling, performance measurement, network management outsourcing, strategic reviews and joint ventures.

He succeeds Harley Murphy, who will be retiring from full-time employment at the end of August after eight years with the company. He will continue to be associated with BNY Mellon in an advisory capacity.

Having joined in 2000 as Managing Director of Mellon Fund Administration Dublin, Murphy later became Scottish Regional Head, overseeing Mellon's fund administration activities in Edinburgh before returning to Dublin in 2005 to take up the post of Country Manager for Mellon's Irish business. He became Head of BNY Mellon Asset Servicing's EMEA offshore business in July 2007.

Nadine Chakar, Head of EMEA at BNY Mellon Asset Servicing, said: "Harley has been a highly valued member of my team and we wish him all the best for the future.

She continued: "I am delighted to welcome Ross aboard. His commitment to the asset servicing business and his immense knowledge of our sector will be huge assets as we embark on the next phase of our ambitious growth strategy in the EMEA region."
