NEW YORK, January 31, 2008 — The Bank of New York Mellon, a global leader in asset management and securities servicing, was the number one overall trustee for municipal debt in 2007, according to data compiled by Thomson Financial, a leading provider of financial technology and information.

In 2007, the company served as trustee on more than 1,300 municipal issues with proceeds exceeding $108 billion, which accounted for approximately 28% of all new deals during the year.
