The Bank of New York Mellon Appointed by Banco Popular Espanol as Global Custodian

LONDON, October 9, 2007 — The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation has been appointed by Banco Popular Espanol, the third largest banking group in Spain, as global custodian for assets totalling $2 billion.
