Recognised for asset management and asset servicing excellence

SINGAPORE, 14 March 2009 — The Bank of New York Mellon received top industry recognition at Asia Asset Management magazine's 2008 ‘Best of the Best' Awards last night winning two accolades for asset management and asset servicing. BNY Mellon Asset Management was awarded the title of best asset manager in the Global Emerging Markets (MSCI Emerging Markets Index) category over three years, and BNY Mellon Asset Servicing was awarded the title of ‘Best Global Custodian' in Asia.

This year's Asia Asset Management awards applauded the top performing funds, investment management groups and asset servicing providers that consistently outperformed in a challenging economic environment. The asset management awards were awarded based on performance data submitted by asset managers over three years and five years (up to 30 September 2008).

Commenting on BNY Mellon Asset Management's success at the awards David Jiang, CEO of BNY Mellon Asset Management Asia, said: "This is an important achievement as it clearly recognises the consistent performance that we have delivered across our range throughout the difficult markets conditions that have prevailed, particularly over the last 12 months."

2008 was also a strong year for BNY Mellon Asset Servicing in Asia with multi-million dollar revenue growth and a surge in assets under custody and administration. "Our success in these awards underlines the strength of our offering and shows that our continued focus on quality and service excellence has once more been recognised by the Asia market," said Chong Jin Leow, head of Asia, BNY Mellon Asset Servicing. "These are difficult times for our clients and they need a trusted partner who they believe to be resilient and financially sound. We will continue to do what we do best, deliver outstanding client service, invest in cutting-edge technology, pioneer new innovative products and attract and retain the best talent the industry has to offer."

These awards follow BNY Mellon Asset Servicing's strong showing in the annual R&M Global Custody Survey, published earlier this month, in which BNY Mellon was ranked in first place in five categories — a feat matched by only one other provider — in the latest annual R&M Survey of custody clients and fund managers. In January, BNY Mellon Asset Servicing received the highest number of 'Top-Rated' recognitions (eight) and 'Best in Class' awards (142) out of all surveyed firms in Global Custodian magazine's 2008 Global Custody Survey.
