Valerie Haertel Appointed Global Head of Investor Relations at BNY Mellon; Brings Two Decades of Senior Level Financial and Management Experience, Including State Street and Alliance Bernstein

NEW YORK, Oct. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- BNY Mellon, a global leader in investment management and investment services, today announced that Valerie Haertel has joined BNY Mellon as Global Head of Investor Relations, with responsibility for managing relationships with the company's shareholders and analysts. 

Reporting to Todd Gibbons, BNY Mellon vice chairman and chief financial officer, Haertel also will be a member of the company's Operating Committee, which is responsible for successfully executing BNY Mellon's corporate strategy and policies.

She brings 20 years of investor relations experience across industries with strong investment management and investment services business, and most recently was senior vice president of investor relations for State Street. Previously, Haertel led investor relations for the asset management firm Alliance Bernstein, where she led a global rebranding project and many other key strategic investor initiatives.

Her previous experience also includes several other senior level investor relations and management roles with Medco Health Solutions, RCN Corporation, NASDAQ and Georgeson & Company.

Haertel is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) and previously served as president of NIRI's New York Chapter. She earned a bachelor's degree in finance and a master's degree in business administration from St. John's University.
