Morris also named to The Daniel Burnham Fellowship
CHICAGO, February 3, 2020 – Crain’s Chicago Business recognized Tracie Morris, BMO's U.S. chief human resources officer, on their 2020 Notable Leaders in HR list.
The list features HR executives in the Chicago-area who are leaders in their field, who mentor other human resources executives and have demonstrated the ability or power to effective change in the areas recruitment, retaining talent, improving efficiency, enhancing corporate culture and promoting diversity and inclusion.
Morris was also recently selected for The Daniel Burnham Fellowship, a new civic leadership program spearheaded by Leadership Greater Chicago. The Fellowship is designed to inspire top local leaders new to Chicago or new to their role to mobilize and exert their combined influence and intellect to positively impact Chicago, its future and the continued economic progress of the region.
Tracie serves as head of human resources for all of BMO’s U.S. operations, including governance, regulatory and board issues. She is also responsible for HR leadership and support to the Personal & Business Banking and Commercial Banking teams and holds committee leadership roles on BMO Financial Group’s Board of Directors.

Morris forged new partnerships with historically black colleges to source diverse internship candidates and expanded sponsorship and networking opportunities for women. She heads BMO’s “Leaders Meet Directors” program, which offers high potential leaders the opportunity to network with members of the BMO Financial Group’s Board of Directors. Inspired by BMO’s focus on community, Tracie’s team leveraged the company’s purpose statement to “Boldly Grow the Good in Business and Life” to attract top talent and encourage employee participation in community giving and volunteerism activities.
Morris has been in HR leadership roles for more than 20 years. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Girl Scouts of America, Business Leadership Council, Women Employed and Junior Achievement.
