MANY HANDS MAKE FOR LIGHT WORK: BMO EMPLOYEES HELP LOCAL NONPROFIT S
Kansa City Area Employees Work Together for Annual Volunteer Day

LEAWOOD, KS (June 7, 2013) – Nearly 100 financial professionals throughout metro Kansas City took time away from the office recently to help those less fortunate. Employees from BMO Harris Bank and BMO Private Bank, both a part of BMO Financial Group, rolled up their sleeves to help a number of local agencies as part of BMO's annual Volunteer Day.

A number of bank employees worked with Heartland Habitat for Humanity helping to build a prototype sustainable house as part of "Project Architecture." Harvesters Food Bank asked employees to help organize and sort thousands of cans and non-perishable food items for their food distribution system. Employees who wanted to use their artistic talent painted staff offices at Newhouse Shelter. Finally, those employees with a soft spot for working with young children provided several extra sets of hands to help staff at Operation Breakthrough, an early-education child care and social services facility that serves the urban core.

"We are committed to supporting our community through the giving of our employees' time and talents as well as our corporate financial resources," said BMO Harris Bank Kansas City President Brad Smith. "While our employees are active in the community throughout the year, they look forward to Volunteer Day because of the single-day impact we make in the community when we all work together."

Launched in 2001, BMO Volunteer Day has grown to include approximately 5,600 employees participating in more than 470 projects in communities across the U.S. and Canada, including activities to benefit children and youth organizations, elder care, food banks, community housing, health care facilities, family resource centers, parks and recreational facilities, military personnel, relief organizations and homeless shelters.

"Volunteer Day is just another demonstration of our corporate philanthropy," added Smith.
