BMO HARRIS BANK HELPS FIGHT BLOOD CANCERS

BMO HARRIS BANK HELPS FIGHT BLOOD CANCERS
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Event Keeps Dollars Local

LEAWOOD (April 3, 2013) – For the second year in a row, BMO Harris Bank is helping the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Mid-America Chapter raise dollars and awareness of blood cancers as the presenting sponsor of their signature fundraiser. The April 29 event is a black tie ball and will be held at The Muehlebach Tower in downtown Kansas City.

“The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society provide invaluable resources to those affected by blood cancers,” said BMO Harris Bank Kansas City President Brad Smith. “Our association with them is an important investment in our community, as well a reflection of BMO Harris Bank’s dedication to the health and well-being of the markets we serve.”

Dollars raised from this year’s silver anniversary event will stay in the community to support LLS participation in the Learning Collaborative. The Learning Collaborative is a partnership of LLS, the National Institutes of Health and the drug development program at the University of Kansas and its NCI designated Cancer Center, located in the Kansas City area. The Learning Collaborative focuses on repurposing already approved drugs for new uses and has already succeeded in placing drugs into clinical trials years faster than traditional approac hes. The result is faster improvement in treatments and saved lives.

“We are pleased to partner with BMO Harris Bank to present The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s 25th Anniversary Black Tie Ball. It is our pleasure to acknowledge the wonderful support given to this event by a bank that cares so much about the community. None of this would be possible without BMO's generosity and support,” commented LLS Executive Director Janna LaCock.
