NO NEED TO RELY ON LUCK THIS ST. PATRICK'S DAY

NO NEED TO RELY ON LUCK THIS ST. PATRICK'S DAY
BMO Harris Bank has a better way to put more money in your pocket

CHICAGO (March 13, 2013) – According to tradition, four leaf clovers bring good luck to their finders, especially if found accidentally.  However, instead of relying on luck in managing your expenses during this year's St. Patrick's Day celebrations and throughout the year, BMO Harris Bank has some tried and tested advice that will give you better results.

Regularly deposit into a savings account – An automatic monthly deposit from your checking account to your savings account is one of the easiest ways to save for a rainy day, plan for unexpected expenses, and big ticket purchases. Consider an IRA for retirement savings, and a money market account for your expanding nest egg.

Create a budget and stick to it – Keeping track of where you spend your hard earned money is the best way to make sure you don't over-spend. Don't know how to start? There are many software products available to help. The Internet can direct you too, search "personal budgeting."

Small changes can really add up – Did you know that if you bring your lunch to work four days a week instead of eating out, over your working career you could save as much as $60,000?* Even cutting back on that $4 latte a couple of times each week will save you hundreds of dollars per year.

"Your personal finances are too important to hope that you're just lucky," said Julie Curran, Regional President, BMO Harris Bank. "Every consumer should take time to talk with a banker or financial professional about how to better ensure their financial success."
