BMO Harris Bank Grant to Fight Hunger

BMO Harris Bank Grant to Fight Hunger

ST. LOUIS (November 29, 2012) – BMO Harris Bank announced today a $10,000 grant to the St. Louis Area Foodbank, the region's largest nonprofit food distribution center dedicated to feeding those in need.

"The St. Louis Area Foodbank is an invaluable asset providing critical services to the community through food distribution and education programs," said Brad Smith, Senior Vice President, BMO Harris Bank. "For years, we have participated in food drives and set up volunteer opportunities for employees.  This grant will help support the critical services the St. Louis Area Foodbank provides to our neighbors in need."

For approximately one in eight people in the St. Louis area, hunger is a reality.  Children comprise the largest segment of the population in need of food assistance.   "Go od nutrition, particularly in the first three years of life, is important in establishing and maintaining a good foundation.  That foundation has implications on a child's future physical and mental health, academic achievement, and economic productivity," said Verletta Cole, Vice President of Development at the St. Louis Area Foodbank. "This makes the contributions of individuals and companies like BMO Harris Bank paramount to helping us meet the great need in our community."
