Day-long “home makeover” to celebrate local family’s journey to homeownership

Day-long “home makeover” to celebrate local family’s journey to homeownership

INDIANAPOLIS, November 5, 2012 - The Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP) and BMO Harris Bank will host a “Living the Dream” home makeover on November 7 to celebrate one Indianapolis family’s successful journey to reach homeownership.

The Miller family’s “Living the Dream” project day is sponsored by BMO Harris Bank. During this day-long event, BMO employees will volunteer to make home improvements that this family never would have had the time or money to do. Interior walls will be painted, lighting and ceiling fans will be installed, landscaping will be added and more to help make the Miller’s house feel more like a home. The Miller’s will return to the home later that same afternoon for a “reveal” of the improvements that were made while they were away.

“Having participated with INHP for decades, we know the asset they are to the community,” said Tim Massey, Regional President, BMO Harris Bank. “Working with INHP is a win-win for everyone. A deserving family is helped, the community is enriched, and our employees enjoy the rewards that only come from giving.”

It’s all part of INHP’s “Living the Dream” program in which corporate sponsors support a family’s participation in INHP’s homeownership preparation and education program, culminating in a full-day “mini home makeover project” at their home.

Nicole Miller’s closed on the family’s home last November after working with an INHP Homeownership Advisor for eighteen months to improve her credit and gain knowledge about the home buying process. Nicole is a single mother and has worked two jobs over the past six years in order to provide for her family.

“INHP helps wor king families become and remain long-term successful homeowners,” says INHP President Moira Carlstedt. “The Living the Dream program gives INHP and our corporate partners, such as BMO Harris Bank, a way to celebrate and further reward families who work very hard to successfully attain their goal."
