    BMO Harris Bank Helps Birds of a Feather Flock Together at Woodson Art Museum's 2012 'Birds in Art' Exhibition

    WAUSAU, Wis., Sept. 7, 2012 – BMO Harris Bank is proud to celebrate the opening of the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's 37th annual "Birds in Art" exhibition Saturday, September 8, and the "Owen J. Gromme: An Enduring Legacy" exhibition, comprising paintings donated by BMO Harris Bank.

    The 43 Gromme paintings were commissioned in 1965 by Marshall & Ilsley, now BMO Harris Bank, for its then-new Milwaukee building. Just over a decade later, the widely celebrated Wisconsin artist organized the Woodson Art Museum's inaugural exhibition, earning Gromme recognition as the "father of 'Birds in Art.'" The international reputation of "Birds in Art" was key to BMO Harris Bank's decision to donate the paintings to the Woodson Art Museum in 2011.

"We are proud the collection has made its final migration to its new permanent home at the Woodson Art Museum, where Gromme's love of conservation and the outdoors can be enjoyed by future generations."

    "Owen J. Gromme: An Enduring Legacy" features all 43 paintings previously housed in the bank's Milwaukee headquarters, as well as a re-creation of the artist's Briggsville, Wisconsin studio. The paintings are considered among the best created by Gromme, featuring Wisconsin birds, wildlife and flora.
