M&I Oro Valley Named Small Business of the Year
Northern Pima County Chamber of Commerce Presents 2011 Pinnacle Awards

TUCSON, Ariz. (Sept. 8, 2011) – The Oro Valley branch of M&I, a part of BMO Financial Group, was recently named Small Business of the Year by the Northern Pima County Chamber of Commerce as part of its annual Pinnacle Award ceremony. The company was chosen for its efforts to honor first responders in Southern Arizona.

M&I has long been a committed community partner in the area. Since 2008, they have honored local law enforcement in the Tucson area with a special celebration. In 2010, they expanded the initiative and created "Heroes Day," during which all first responders in the region are recognized.

The Bank worked with other community organizations and local businesses to collect donations and offer free lunch to first responders at all branch locations. Additionally, Governor Brewer headlined a press conference to recognize four first responders for their outstanding service. Over the past three years, they've served meals to nearly 2,000 first responders, and raised more than $11,500 for public safety-related causes.

"First responders are an essential part of our community and it's been our pleasure to recognize and celebrate their contributions," said Stephen Johnson, President of M&I Arizona. "We're thrilled that the Chamber has chosen to honor us with a Pinnacle Award, and we are grateful for the strong support we received from the local business community to help make Heroes Day possible."
