Harris Announces its Participation in New Robbery Prevention Program

FBI, Cook County Crime Stoppers and the Chicago Police Department Partner with Financial Institutions in Program to Reduce the Number of Bank Robberies in Chicagoland.

CHICAGO, March 8, 2006 – Harris today announced it is participating in a new robbery prevention program working in close cooperation with the FBI, Cook County Crime Stoppers and the Chicago Police Department as an additional strategy aimed at reducing the number of bank robberies in Chicagoland.

As part of the program, Harris will offer reward money up to $10,000, for the identification and arrest of individuals responsible for past or future robberies at any Harris location in Chicagoland.

"The safety and security of our customers and employees is our number one priority, and this program, in conjunction with other strategies and security measures we have implemented, help ensure the public knows how serious we are about our commitment," said Yasmin Bates, EVP, Chicagoland South Division. "We are pleased to announce this important program today in collaboration with federal and local authorities."

"Given the record number of bank robberies that we experienced last year, this unprecedented offer from two prominent members of the Chicago banking community is a welcome addition to our investigative arsenal," said Robert D. Grant, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago FBI. "We hope that this initiative will not only lead to the solution of unsolved robberies but will also serve to deter those who might be considering robbing a bank."

Citizens with any knowledge of past robberies or information on future robberies at any Harris location are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-535-STOP.
