    William Schreier Joins Harris Nesbitt's Equity Capital Markets Group

    NEW YORK, May 17, 2005 - Harris Nesbitt, the U.S. investment and corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group (NYSE: BMO), announced today it has hired William Schreier as Managing Director of its Equity Capital Markets (ECM) group in New York.

    Mr. Schreier will focus on growing the firm's market share in public equity related financings. Reporting to Carlos Conde, Executive Managing Director and Head of Harris Nesbitt Equity Capital Markets, Mr. Schreier will be responsible for origination and helping clients identify, review and select optimal financing alternatives. He will also draw upon his experience to advance Harris Nesbitt's role in identifying opportunities in the growing Income Participating SecuritiesTM market.

    Prior to joining Harris Nesbitt, Mr. Schreier was a Senior Managing Director in CIBC World Markets' New York Equity Capital Markets (ECM) group. Previously, he was an ECM Managing Director at Salomon Brothers, and was ECM department head at Bankers Trust /BT Securities. Mr. Schreier began his ECM career at Morgan Stanley, where he first served as Senior Capital Markets Counsel, Legal Department. He began his professional career at Willkie Farr & Gallagher, practicing corporate and securities law.

    Mr. Schreier received a B.S. in Finance (cum laude) from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and a J.D. (Law Review) from Fordham University School of Law, New York.M

    Harris Nesbitt's Equity Capital Markets Group is a leader in providing innovative financing solutions to a wide range of growing c ompanies. More recently, the firm has been active in bringing new issues public via the successful Income Participating Securities™ (IPS) product.     Mr. Schreier is the latest addition to the firm. Over the last two years, Harris Nesbitt has continued to add senior professionals to all areas of its business, which focuses on providing a full suite of investment banking products and services to a number of clients across the U.S. The firm recently hired David Haas and Anthony Moretti to the Consumer & Leisure Investment Banking Group in New York. Two months ago, Harris Nesbitt hired industry veteran Erik van Nispen, who will be responsible for growing the national reach of the Financial Institutions investment banking team.
