    Harris Private Bank Signs as Lead Sponsor for 8th Annual Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Regatta

    CHICAGO, June 14, 2004 – Harris Private Bank today announced it is the new corporate sponsor for the Illinois Leukemia & Lymphoma Society annual regatta, featuring an expected 140 boats competing for the Regatta Champion title while raising funds to help fight blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and multiple myeloma.

    This year’s event, called the “Harris P rivate Bank Leukemia Cup Regatta,” will be held August 27-28, 2004, and will set sail from Chicago’s Monroe Harbor. Each participating crew sails in honor of a “Patient Hero” who is fighting a blood-related cancer. The goal is to raise $150,000 for Illinois chapter programs. Similar regattas will be held 37 other cities nationwide.

    “We are so pleased to sponsor the Harris Private Bank Leukemia Cup Regatta this year and help to raise awareness as well as dollars for this important organization,” said Graham Parsons, Executive Vice-President, Harris Private Bank. “More than 100,000 Americans will be diagnosed with a blood-related cancer in the next 12 months. We are honored to support the research, education and patient aid efforts of the Illinois Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.”

    The Illinois chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society raises funds to support local cancer research, provide information and referrals to patients, professionals and the general public, and provides patient services to those with a blood-related cancer. The Illinois chapter is now funding the work of 13 researchers in the Chicagoland area, as well as offering financial aid to more than 1,100 patients. Events such as the Harris Private Bank Leukemia Cup Regatta provide much needed financial support to the society’s efforts.
