BOSTON — June 21, 2012 — Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) will relocate its corporate headquarters to 101 Huntington Avenue in Boston. The move will occur in the spring of 2015 when the company's lease expires at its current headquarters in the Landmark Center.

The company made the decision after a rigorous process that evaluated a number of locations based on several key criteria including: affordable and efficient use of space, convenient public transportation, and an opportunity to create workspace for BCBSMA employees that promotes wellness and environmentally-friendly design.

"At a time when we're doing all we can to keep our administrative costs as low as possible, 101 Huntington proved to be the most affordable option that will best meet the needs of our business and our valued associates," said BCBSMA President and CEO Andrew Dreyfus.

Dreyfus added that retaining a headquarter presence in Boston was an important factor in the decision. He noted that in September the company will mark the 75th anniversary of its founding on Milk Street in Boston.

BCBSMA currently leases 368,000 square feet of office space at Landmark Center. Due to more efficient use of office space in its new headquarters, the company expects to lease 330,000 square feet of space at 101 Huntington. BCBSMA also has offices in Quincy, Hingham and Worcester along with warehouse space in South Boston.
