Photos: ‘Wall of Hope’ at Banner Children’s NICU helps families stay strong
Visual reminder that things can get better
In every portrait, it's clear the children are proud to have overcome major setbacks as infants through the help of their medical team and families.

MESA, Ariz. (Oct. 26, 2020) – Parents whose babies are being treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Banner Children's at Desert now have another reminder to stay hopeful for better days ahead.

A new "Wall of Hope" features several photos that highlight former NICU patients in a stark and inspiring contrast – showing the now-healthy and happy kids holding pictures of themselves when they were tiny babies hooked to monitors and weighing only a few pounds. In every portrait, it's clear the children are proud to have overcome major setbacks as infants through the help of their medical team and families.

The NICU Parent Advisory Board created the Wall of Hope for patients and staff to help keep their spirits up, especially during difficult times. The NICU at Banner Children's is dedicated to nurturing the most critically ill babies and their families.

Banner Children's at Desert provides pediatric care for children, from newborns to teens. Services include immediate access to Level I trauma services and emergency care, a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, general pediatrics, surgical and rehabilitation services, hematology/oncology, urology, gastroenterology, neurology and outpatient services.
