Dr. Keith Hazleton joins Banner – University Medicine and UArizona Department of Pediatrics

TUCSON, Ariz. - (October 5, 2020) Children’s liver, gastroenterology and nutrition expert, Keith Hazleton, MD, PhD, has joined Banner – University Medicine in Tucson. He is the only pediatric hepatologist in Southern Arizona.    

A part of Banner – University Medicine, Dr. Hazleton will be seeing patients at the Diamond Children’s Multispecialty Services Clinic on Wilmot, Banner - University Medicine Pediatric Specialty Clinic on La Cholla and Banner’s Multispecialty Clinic in Sierra Vista.  In addition, Dr. Hazleton will perform endoscopies and provide consultation for inpatient children at Diamond Children’s Medical Center

Dr. Hazleton has been appointed assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson joining the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.  

His research includes studying the effects of diet on the gut microbiome. Specifically, how a western-style diet effects C. difficile infection and nutritional status in cystic fibrosis. He has published 11 peer-reviewed articles and is continuing his research in Tucson. 

Dr. Hazleton received his medical degree and graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY, where he also obtained his doctorate. Dr. Hazleton trained as a resident, a pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition fellow and as an advanced/transplant hepatology fellow at the Children’s Hospital Colorado/University of Colorado School of Medicine, Aurora, CO.
