LOVELAND, Colo. (Aug. 29, 2019) – Banner Health has announced a $7.9 million expansion to the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center at McKee Medical Center.

Upon joining the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center partnership based in Gilbert, Arizona, the local cancer center has received patients from throughout Northern Colorado and beyond. In addition, oncologists treat more types of cancer, have more treatment options available and the number of physicians on staff has grown.

“This construction project will advance how to best serve patients who come to us for cancer care,” said nursing director for regional oncology services Julianne Fritz, MSN, RN, OCN.

The construction project will:

  • Expand the chemotherapy and infusion area updating the area to a pod design. The pods provide for more privacy, individualized support for patients and their family members, and access to technology in a convenient and esthetically pleasing environment.
  • Add a specialized pharmacy dedicated to the cancer center.
  • Expand clinical space including exam rooms, space for multiple oncology specialists to meet with a patient jointly and space for multi-disciplinary disease specific care clinics.

Banner Health, which is funding the construction, hopes to begin work in early 2020 and open the expanded center toward the end of the year.
