GREELEY, Colo. (June 25, 2019) – The new nurse practitioner at North Colorado Medical Center’s Wound Care Clinic says compassion shown by the team of providers there inspires him in his work.

Victor Duarte, certified as both a family nurse practitioner and wound care provider, began working with the wound care clinic in January 2018 with a focus on infectious diseases. He transferred to work full time in the wound clinic this spring. He will also begin seeing patients at the wound clinic at McKee Medical Center in Loveland later this summer.

In his role, Duarte cares for patients with wounds caused by diabetes, trauma, infections, pressure injuries and peripheral vascular disease. He uses products to keep wounds clean and has been trained in performing surgical removal of dead tissue from wounds.

“Wounds can be debilitating, painful and life-altering. Having a patient walk out of our clinic after several weeks of proper care with a closed wound allows our team to feel a great sense of pride and accomplishment that we are truly making a difference,” he said.

Duarte has worked in Northern Colorado and southern Wyoming in the areas of hospice and palliative care, home care, intensive care, clinical education and infectious diseases. He also has taught classes in nursing.

Duarte earned his nurse practitioner certification from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, and his Master’s and Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. He also has a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Montclair State University, New Jersey.

The North Colorado Medical Center Wound Care Clinic is at 1801 16th St. in Greeley. In Loveland, the clinic is at 1900 Boise Ave., Suite 210. To learn more or to schedule an appointment, call (970) 810-6075.
