ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND:

Banner Health in partnership with Select Medical announced a joint venture partnership on January 9, 2018, that includes the construction of three new acute inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in the metro Phoenix, West Valley and East Valley.  The new state-of-the-art facilities will better serve the needs of patients requiring care resulting from stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputation, neurological disorders, among other conditions.   

The groundbreaking ceremony on January 25, 2019 taking place near Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix will mark the first hospital to be built under the agreement. Banner Rehabilitation Hospital – Phoenix will be a 71,480 square-foot, three-story, 56-bed rehab hospital located near Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix. Construction is expected to take about 13 months with anticipated opening of early 2020.
