Banner Ironwood Medical Center adds Spiritual Care team
New hires will support patients, staff and community

QUEEN CREEK, Ariz., (Jan. 7, 2019) – Banner Ironwood Medical Center is starting 2019 with a new Spiritual Care Program, including hiring two full time employees to provide care, comfort and support at the hospital and in the community.

Kelvin Thompson joins the hospital as Spiritual Care senior manager, and Cornelia Green joins as Spiritual Care program coordinator. They will work closely with the spiritual care volunteers who have served the hospital well over the past few years and provide leadership for continued growth of the volunteer chaplaincy program.

The Spiritual Care team will provide care and service to patients, visitors and team members, strengthen the hospital's partnership with community faith-based organizations, and recruit and train new Spiritual Care volunteers.

Thompson most recently worked for Hospice Family Care, providing optimal spiritual care and leadership to patients, families and team members. Prior to that role, he served as the Spiritual Care Services manager for Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio.

Green is a Banner Health employee, transferring to Banner Ironwood from Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, where she most recently served as a chaplain. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her new role.  

Banner Ironwood Medical Center, located at 37000 N. Gantzel Road in Queen Creek, opened in 2010 and has 53 private patient rooms. The hospital delivered a record number of babies in 2018, with 1,049 live births.
