MESA, Ariz. (Oct. 5, 2018)  -- A local family whose infant son passed away is helping other families in his memory, by donating a special device to Banner Desert Medical Center to help parents stay a little longer with an infant who has passed away.

The family will present the bedside cooling device known as a “CuddleCot” to the hospital at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the Labor and Delivery area at Banner Desert, 1400 S. Dobson Road.

The family is willing to do media interviews, and will also bring lunch for the team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where their son spent 12 days before he died in 2015. Since then, they have performed acts of kindness such as this donation to help other families and to honor him.

This will be the first CuddleCot available at the hospital, and it’s expected to make a major difference in helping families through such a difficult time. The family will be joined by about 20 people representing organizations who helped raise funds to purchase the CuddleCot, including Campbell’s Crew Cares and the Colten Cowell Foundation.

Media who are interested in attending should RSVP to Jodie Snyder at (602) 448-8459 mobile.

Directions and Parking: Banner Desert is located at 1400 S. Dobson Road, on the same medical campus as Cardon Children’s Medical Center. When turning into the campus from Dobson Road, take a left at the first stop sign. Follow the road around to the Labor and Delivery area, and an escort will meet you in the lobby.
