SUSANVILLE, Calif. (Oct. 3, 2018) – Brent Aikin, DO, has been selected as the new chief medical officer (CMO) at Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville, California and Banner Churchill Community Hospital in Fallon, Nevada.
As CMO, Dr. Aikin will serve as the top physician executive at both non-profit Banner Health facilities, overseeing all medical staff members and ensuring patients receive the safest, highest quality treatment possible at the two hospitals.
Board-certified in emergency medicine, Dr. Aikin completed his residency at the University of Nevada in internal medicine with an emphasis in emergency medicine. Since 2003, Dr. Aikin has held a number of leadership positions at Banner Lassen and Banner Churchill hospitals, including chief of staff at Banner Churchill and medical director of the emergency departments at both Banner Lassen and Banner Churchill.
Dr. Aikin said his focus will be two-fold: ensuring that patients continue receiving high-quality, safe care and that the medical staff members receive the support they need to practice medicine at a high level.
“I am excited for this new opportunity to help the doctors, staff and hospitals grow and continue providing the best possible patient care,” said Dr. Aikin. “I enjoy spending a large portion of my time at the bedside, interacting patients and it’s an honor to continue to be able to help the community alongside two incredible teams.”
