WORLAND, Wyo. (Sept. 19, 2017) – Washakie Medical Center is proud to celebrate the completion of the $25 million expansion and renovation project which made significant improvements to nearly every department within the facility. The community is invited to celebrate the completion of the renovations with an open house from 5-7 p.m. October 10 at the hospital, 400 S. 15th Street.

The hospital, built in 1962, started making the much needed improvements in June 2015 through the public-private partnership with Washakie County, ANB Bank and Banner Health. Work was completed in phases to create new space for departments to move into new areas while existing space was renovated. The entire project includes:

  • Two new labor and delivery rooms dedicated to obstetrics.
  • A new surgical suite with two large, state-of-the-art operating rooms and one endoscopy suite
  • New pre-operative and post-operative recovery areas
  • A new and larger Emergency department
  • New, expanded laboratory and pharmacy
  • New respiratory therapy, chemotherapy and outpatient infusion areas
  • Renovated front entry with impacts to the admitting, business office, waiting room and gift shop.

“Our public-private partnership provided the opportunity to make much needed improvements, including a state-of-the-art surgical suite for the citizens in the Big Horn Basin,” said Jay Stallings, Washakie Medical Center chief executive officer. “We are thrilled to be finished with the last of the upgrades throughout the facility to help us care for our community with the latest design and technology.”

The open house event will include an opportunity to see the new public areas as well as some of the new patient care departments following a ribbon cutting. Snacks and refreshments will be provided, for more information call (307) 347-3221.
