PHOENIX (Sept. 5, 2017) – Non-profit Banner Health, the state’s largest health system, and The CORE Institute, an orthopedic and neurology practice with locations in Arizona and Michigan, have announced a new ownership agreement for the former Banner Del E. Webb Surgery Center in Glendale.
Effective immediately, Banner Health and The CORE Institute have become joint owners of the surgery center at 18301 N. 79th Ave., #E-150 in Glendale, renaming it the Banner CORE Union Hills Surgery Center.
The Banner CORE Union Hills Surgery Center will continue offering a variety of outpatient surgery services, and will specialize in orthopedic surgery. Orthopedic procedures will include knee replacements, sports medicine procedures, spine and pain management, foot and ankle surgery, and other orthopedic surgical specialties.
Under the new partnership, Banner Health will retain a majority stake of 51 percent in the center, with CORE holding a minority ownership stake of 49 percent. While CORE will now have an ownership position in the center, both CORE and non-CORE surgeons will continue to practice at the center, performing both orthopedic and non-orthopedic outpatient surgeries in the facility’s four operating rooms. Additionally, the surgery center will remain staffed by Banner Health employees and will use Banner’s electronic medical record system.
