TORRINGTON, Wyoming (Aug. 7, 2019) – Three years of planning has culminated in Banner Health’s commitment to invest in new operating suites, a new entry and space renovated for future growth at Torrington Community Hospital.

Crews will break ground at a ceremony 12:30 p.m. Aug. 21 on the north side of the hospital, 2000 Campbell Drive. Zach Miller, chief executive officer, will speak along with members of the hospital advisory board.

“This project represents a $13 million investment into health and access to health services in Goshen County. We are fortunate to be part of Banner Health and to have regional and corporate leaders who understand rural health care and the unique challenges rural communities face,” Miller said.

“As a part of Banner, our providers use the same protocols and have access to the same knowledge used in Banner’s urban and academic hospitals. This project will bring our facility’s physical plant up to that same high standard to better serve the community.”

The project will:

• Renovate two operating rooms allowing for the latest technology and equipment
• Renovate and improve the area used for sterilizing surgical equipment and preparing surgical supplies
• Create a new entry to the hospital on the north side of the building which will improve access to the facility from the parking area
• Add shelled space for future growth.

The project will be paid for by Banner Health, which owns and operates Torrington Community Hospital.

“This is the latest in a series of projects for the hospital campus,” Miller said. In the past 10 years, the hospital opened the new physical therapy and rehabilitation clinic; renovated the labor and delivery unit; renovated the medical/surgical patient rooms; opened Generations behavioral health support group program and remodeled the emergency room.

“This is an important capital project allowing us to expand healthcare services and continue to improve the quality of care,” said hospital board Chairman Bob Taylor. “We know this project will be a huge success because the design plan was developed by our staff, our highly skilled doctors, nurses and medical technicians and based on their experience and extensive knowledge of the needs of the facility.”

Lisa Miller, chief executive officer with Goshen County Economic Development, also applauded the investment in the hospital.
