About 300 families – including many babies and kids dressed as superheroes – took part in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) reunion Saturday afternoon at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa. This event brought together families whose tiny loved ones were treated in the NICU at Cardon Children’s Medical Center, and allowed the chance for kids to reunite with the medical team who helped save their lives.

The theme was “superheroes” for Halloween. The reunion was a special celebration for these families, as the NICU stay is an unexpected twist for families and can often be a very stressful time. The NICU at Cardon Children’s is dedicated to nurturing the most critically ill babies and their families.
