TUCSON, Ariz. (Nov. 20, 2019) – The hospitalized children at Banner Children’s at Diamond Children’s Medical Center participated in the El Tour de Tucson poster coloring contest, competing among themselves to win prizes. The winning first, second and third place submissions will earn the artist a cycling themed prize which will be presented Friday, Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. in the lobby of Diamond Children’s Medical Center, 1501 N. Campbell, Tucson 85724.

The winners of the coloring contest will be presented by Gary Heinfeld, CPA. Heinfeld is riding in El Tour de Tucson and collecting donations for Diamond Children’s. To date, he has raised more than $10,000 for the medical center since registering for this year’s ride.

The winning posters will be featured on the Diamond Children’s Medical Center Facebook page and all the submissions will be displayed at the El Tour de Tucson Expo taking place Nov 21-23 at Armory Park. The expo is free and open to the public from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Banner – University Medicine will be there with fun activities for everyone to enjoy.

The hospitalized children or children receiving treatment at the medical center were invited to compete and 10 children submitted their artwork to be judged by Banner – University Medicine staff.

The donations for Diamond Children’s from El Tour de Tucson will be used to directly benefit hospitalized children in Southern Arizona. The donations help to purchase toys, video games, books, snacks and decorations, as well as support the library, hospital school and child life specialists.

Since its inception in 1983, Perimeter Bicycling, which hosts the El Tour de Tucson, has raised more than $95 million for over 100 charities. Banner – University Medicine is the official title sponsor of the El Tour de Tucson and Diamond Children’s Medical Center is the primary beneficiary of the race.
