TEMPE/GILBERT, Ariz. (Aug. 9, 2018) – Back-to-school time also signals a return to sports and playground, where a lot of enjoyment -- and injuries -- can happen to kids.
Each year in the United States, more than 200,000 children ages 14 and younger require immediate medical care for playground-related injuries, with the most common injuries being fractures and abrasions, according to the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control.
But many of these school-related accidents don’t necessarily require a trip to the Emergency department; they can be handled at Banner Health’s new pediatric urgent cares. Banner Children’s Urgent Care facilities in Tempe and Gilbert can treat children’s common back-to-school injuries such as sprains, strains, fractures and heat-related problems.
“We can definitely be your first stop for care. Our highly skilled providers can perform a thorough evaluation and take care of your child in a manner that is convenient and helpful for you,’’ says Chinwe Egbo, MD, medical director for Banner Children’s Urgent Care centers.
