PHOENIX (Jan. 2, 2018) -- This flu season is hitting the U.S. harder than in some years past.

Today the CDC reported that the flu was “widespread” in 36 states including Arizona, Colorado, California, Nebraska and Wyoming.

Banner Health Urgent Care leaders are available for an interview to talk about flu, treatment and prevention. Banner is urging patients who are experiencing flu-like symptoms to consider visiting urgent care clinics for treatment, as this can often be a simpler, faster overall way to receive care.

Banner Health infectious disease specialists, in coordination with local public health departments, say that H3N2 is the predominant circulating strain this year. That strain is typically associated with more serious flu seasons.
