PHOENIX – Two Banner Health critical access hospitals have been named Top Hospitals by a national health care quality and safety ratings group.
The Leapfrog Group has selected Page Hospital in Page, Ariz., and Community Hospital in Torrington, Wyo., to receive the honor. The Leapfrog Group selects Top Hospitals based on the results of the 2016 Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The survey considers performance across many areas of hospital care to establish the qualifications for the award including infection rates, maternity care and the hospital’s ability to prevent medication errors.
“This national recognition by an organization like The Leapfrog Group is quite an honor,” said Brian Kellar, chief executive officer for Page Hospital. “Our goal is to sustain and grow high performance year after year.
“We continue to add more specialized medical providers for our local community to access critical health care interventions,” Kellar added. “Our expectation in addition to delivering the highest quality, is to meet our patients’ needs locally and make the process of receiving health care services as easy as possible.”
Community Hospital Chief Operating Officer Sandy Dugger agreed that the Wyoming hospital aims to sustain the high performance.
“We have had growth in orthopedics, rehabilitation and maternity care with the addition of new providers in Banner Medical Group and plans for our new outpatient rehabilitation clinic. Those things happen because our consumers are happy with their care. It’s an exciting time to working here,” she said.
Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, said being acknowledged as a Top Hospital is an incredible feat achieved by less than 3 percent of hospitals nationwide.
The two Banner hospitals were among 21 Top Rural Hospitals recognized across the country.
