Community Hospital plans events for Pink October

TORRINGTON, Wyo. – National Breast Cancer Awareness Month brings about several activities with Community Hospital allowing employees to celebrate and honor women while shedding light on the importance of breast health.

  • Breast Cancer Awareness Tea: 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5. Cottonwood Room, Community Hospital. The hospital will serve pink punch, cookies and cheesecake and offer tours to show new mammography technology and services.
  • Pink Out Volleyball Games: Community Hospital joins Eastern Wyoming College Athletics and Torrington High School for a fun night of volleyball. The hospital will serve free hotdogs, drinks, chips and cookies from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. High school games are from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and college games begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at Eastern Wyoming College, 3200 W. C St., Torrington.
  • Community Hospital and Wyoming Theatre present “The Choice” for Celebrating Women at the Movies. The event is 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16. Free admission includes pop, popcorn and candy at the theater, 126 E. 20th Ave., Torrington.

According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. The majority of insurances pay for annual screening mammograms, and patients should contact their insurance provider with questions about coverage.
